Deliveries help you clean up during the Pandemic!

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]P&G PROFESSIONAL RESEARCH SHOWS FOOD DELIVERIES ARE NATION’S LOCKDOWN PICK-ME-UP

But only 15% feel reassured by the hygiene standards of their local favourites

Brits have replaced pints in the pub and eating out for takeaways under lockdown 2.0, with the majority of the public having ordered a food delivery since new restrictions came into effect across England on 5 November.

The results of a survey of 2,000 UK adults revealed more than 60% of those polled had indulged in a takeaway this month, with a fifth increasing their orders since the second lockdown began.

Whether tucking into a cod or curry, biryani or burrito, takeaways have meant even more than ever during the challenging last month. According to the poll by P&G Professional (the away-from-home division of Procter and Gamble), one in five agreed they were a welcome treat, providing comfort during lockdown, while pubs, restaurants and many retailers remain shuttered.

Almost a quarter of respondents (23%) said they were impressed at how restaurants, cafes and takeaway venues have adapted to the current climate, while over one in five (21%) felt food and drink businesses have been innovative in the face of uncertainty.

Worryingly, however, only 15% of Britons surveyed said they felt reassured by the hygiene policies in their local restaurants, calling for more visibility on the increased cleaning practices independent restaurants are adopting.

The news comes after research from P&G Professional this summer which found 64%[1] said a clean shop and good hygiene rating is now the most important consideration when choosing where to purchase food from, above the cost (58%) and customer service (45%). This poll also found that one in three would be more likely to frequent a restaurant or takeaway if staff used cleaning brands they knew and trusted.

In an effort to help takeaways and restaurants currently operating takeout-only services, P&G Professional has launched its CleanPLUS Experience initiative. Independent food and drink businesses can prominently display the CleanPLUS Experience sticker as a gold standard in hygiene, reassuring customers that an establishment has been cleaned to the highest standards.

This stamp of approval from P&G’s trusted household name brands – Fairy and Flash– serves as a mark of assurance for guests, with 43% of respondents stating they are more likely to order from a takeaway featuring the CleanPLUS Experience sticker. Not surprising given Flash Professional Disinfecting Multi-Surface Cleaner and Flash Professional Disinfecting Degreaser, kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-192.

Mancs in Mumbai star, Adam Thomas, has struggled to keep his restaurant, The Spinn in Gately, afloat during the last 12 months, even getting behind the wheel to deliver food orders himself: “With high overheads we didn’t know if we’d survive and were prepared to go the extra mile to stay open. We made sure cleanliness and hygiene was our top priority. Using well known cleaning brands like Fairy and Flash and the CleanPLUS Experience sticker is a great way to reassure customers of safety precautions.”

Greg Elmore, UK & Ireland Country Sales Lead at P&G Professional, said: “With the end of England’s second lockdown hopefully on the horizon, this study demonstrates that hygiene and cleanliness remain front and centre in the minds of the public. The CleanPLUS Experience sticker, which is available as a window sticker or digital asset for website use, serves as a brilliant opportunity to reassure customers that the highest possible cleaning standards are upheld.”
