T.Quality, the National Foodservice Wholesaler that has 12 depots across the UK, has teamed up with the ANDYSMANCLUB to increase awareness of mental health issues among men. Sean Savage, Director of Sales & Marketing at T. Quality said, “We are delighted to be able to partner with ANDYSMANCLUB.
Our industry, along with many other sectors is experiencing a period of uncertainty right now and being able to talk to somebody is crucial for maintaining a healthy mental state for our colleagues and customers alike. Spreading the word about the work that the ANDYSMANCLUB is doing is a fantastic way to provide a forum for people to open up & engage. Whether this is with a colleague, a partner, a family member, or attending an ANDYSMANCLUB meeting.
Every day, huge numbers of people will be following a T.Quality vehicle on roads throughout the UK and take in the message…#ITSOKAYTOTALK. The entire team at T Quality look forward to supporting ANDYSMANCLUB with raising awareness of this great cause.
T.Quality looks forward to working further with the ANDYSMANCLUB to roll out more initiatives. In the announcement ANDYSMANCLUB representative Lucas Whitehead said “On behalf of ANDYSMANCLUB, I’d like to thank T.Quality for their support of our cause heading into 2023 – ANDYSMANCLUB are an awareness first charity, something which the team at T.Quality have instantly aligned themselves with – by placing stickers and messaging on the backs of vans and lorries, and also with information and materials placed on trade counters, digital boards and the T.Quality website, we are heightening our chances of positioning our service in front of a man in need at the right time.
We also can’t wait to see the wide range of activities that the team at T.Quality are planning to support us in terms of fundraising! We are a donation-led charity so any money raised is vital in ensuring that we can keep our 110+ groups open across the UK, look to expand into new areas and, in turn, move a step closer to fulfilling our aim of any man being within half an hour’s travel of an ANDYSMANCLUB face-to-face session.”
The ANDYSMANCLUBS Story
In mid-2016, nine men met in a small room in the Yorkshire town of Halifax with a simple aim of talking through their issues and helping each other deal with their mental health. All in attendance were agreed there was a magic in that room that had to be shared. This was the start of a movement that has grown faster than anyone first involved could have ever imagined. Fast forward almost 6 years and ANDYSMANCLUB now has groups at over 100 locations across England, Scotland and Wales.
ANDYSMANCLUB takes its name from Andrew Roberts, a man who sadly took his own life aged 23 in early 2016. Andy’s family had no inkling that he was suffering or struggling to the extent that he would do this, and as a result looked deeper into male suicide and men’s mental health. They soon discovered that male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50, with Male Mental Health surrounded by well-ingrained cultural stigma in the UK. Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler are Andy’s Mum and Brother-in-Law, together they came up with the idea of ANDYSMANCLUB, a group where men aged 18 and above can speak openly about their mental health in a judgment-free, non-clinical environment. Groups now operate nationwide and are completely volunteer-led, with the vast majority of group facilitators having first interacted with ANDYSMANCLUB when they came through the door as a service user.
With their service used on a weekly basis by over 1,700 men, and an army of over 500 volunteers on board, the movement is continuing to grow on a week by week basis. To attend ANDYSMANCLUB, drop us an email – info@andysmanclub.co.uk. or head to www.andysmanclub.co.uk, find your nearest club, and simply attend! The announcement was made at the end of Men Mental Health Month, which runs throughout November to continue the conversation regarding men’s mental health and to understand #ITSOKTOTALK. An initiative of a similar kind will be announced in the near future for a female charity by T.Quality Ltd.
