Britain’s Best Haddock Dish

The Master Chefs Great Britain to judge UK Sustainable Seafood Competition in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society

A Sustainable Seafood Competition has been organised by the Master Chefs of Great Britain in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society. Judges include Master Chefs Chairman George McIvor and Jack Clarke, Sustainable Seafood Advocate with Marine Conservation Society, who are set to judge some of the best dishes created by some of the best young chefs in the UK using one of the UK’s favourite Fish, Haddock.

This unique competition is expected to attract some of the most talented young Seafood Chefs in the UK with its unusual culinary challenge. Aimed at encouraging more people to cook and eat fish as well as promote seafood on the menus of more eateries throughout the UK, the competition will be hotly contested.

“Haddock is an extremely popular fish in the UK” says George McIvor, Chairman of The Master Chefs of Great Britain and explains “and it will be interesting to see just how creative the chefs can be in this unique competition”. With prizes worth over £500 up for grabs, the best young seafood chefs in the UK will surely be keen to compete. However, it is the pride of winning that surely matters most with the title of best haddock young chef in the country.

Fellow Master Chef and Seafish Ambassador Ben Bartlett admits that judging the competition will not be easy, “In the last few years, young chefs in the UK have really got to grips with seafood. They know what they are doing and know how to really impress the judges. Ben has been a seafood ambassador for a number of years working closely with Seafish creating tantalising recipes using British fish and shellfish, he explains, “this competition will be a little different this year with all entries being virtually submitted”.

The Competition

Entries are open for the competition from 1st – 31st March. Shortlisted finalists will be announced on Friday 9th April. Finalist videos to be submitted by Friday 23rd April.  The main ingredient of each dish must be Sustainably Caught North Sea Haddock.
