Two brothers from Wrexham are preparing to take on a gruelling 57-mile charity walk, all in aid of Prostate Cancer UK after their father was diagnosed with the disease.
Harvey Jones, 27, and his brother Jack, 33, who run the family business Peter Gwyn & Sons quality potatoes, will set off from their warehouse on 30/05/2026 and walk non-stop to The Mermaid Fish Bar in Barmouth, which is one of their furthest customers.

The brothers expect the walk to take around 28 hours, travelling through the night without stopping for sleep, while carrying a 25kg sack of potatoes the entire way. Despite the scale of the challenge, they admit they have done little formal training. “We both do a bit of running, but nothing like this,” Harvey said.
They will be supported along the route by friends and family, who will meet them at points to provide supplies and encouragement.
The fundraiser has already raised more than £2,500, with a target of £5,000, though the brothers hope to go far beyond that. Harvey added: “We just want to raise as much as we can really.”
The pair will set off at 8am, aiming to arrive as the Barmouth chip shop opens, where supporters are expected to gather to cheer them in.

The challenge comes after their dad, Peter Gwyn, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year. He has since completed radiotherapy and has been given the all clear.
Harvey said: “You just think it happens to other people, don’t you? You never expect it to happen to someone you know.”
The idea for the fundraiser came from Jack, who already takes part in endurance events. The pair agreed to the challenge last year, but now the reality is starting to sink in. “It’s starting to creep up now,” Harvey said. “We’re realising how far it actually is, it’s going to be really tough.”
For now, Harvey says he is staying positive ahead of the challenge, adding: “I’m feeling confident at the moment, I don’t think it’s properly sunk in yet how far it actually is.”
