Golden moment for Weymouth Chip Shop!
Fish ’n’ Fritz, Weymouth started 2021 with a golden bang when they were awarded the Gold Award in the Casual Dining category at this years virtual Dorset Tourism Awards.
On Thursday 4th February over a ZOOM with all the other finalists in this category, Fish ’n’ Fritz were announced as the winners by Caz Richards from ‘Dorset Food & Drink’.
Dorset Food and Drink Coordinator Caz Richards said, “It’s been an unprecedented year, which has thrown up many challenges for the food, drink and hospitality industry. But we’ve also seen how the industry has risen to meet these challenges and developed new and innovative ways of working to tackle the pandemic. Methods which are so effective, they are being built into working life going forward. The crisis isn’t over yet, but we ease into 2021 with a little more optimism that there could be a return to some semblance of normality in the coming months”.
Caz continues, “Dorset Food and Drink were delighted to sponsor the Casual Dining Award and we’d like to offer huge congratulations to the team at Fish & Fritz for making it to first ‘plaice’!”
The annual awards usually take place at a glittering ‘Black Tie’ event, however with the country still in the grip of the COVID Crisis, the event like many moved online this year.
After the virtual awards ceremony Paul Hay Owner Fish ’n’ Fritz said, “I would like to say a big thank you to Robin at the Dorset Tourism Awards for hosting this prestigious event and our sponsor Caz from Dorset Food & Drink. A very big thank you to Simone my manager and all the staff here at Fish ’n’ Fritz who have been instrumental in making it possible to get us to the finals through their hard work and determination over this most challenging year. A special thank you to Jason Cawley at Out There Marketing, PR & Socials, for giving us great support within Fish ‘n’ Fritz, for without him, we would not be here in the first place. We are elated to be a Gold Winner in the Dorset Tourism Awards, congratulations to all who took part. You are all winners.”
Simone Leanne, Paul’s Manager at Fish ’n’ Fritz was overjoyed at the news, “I’d like to say thank you for the opportunity of winning this gold award for casual dining, I’m so pleased that Fish’n’ Fritz has been recognised for this. I want to thank everyone at the Dorset Tourism Awards for putting this together. I’d also like to thank Paul for all the support he has given the team this year and always. This award follows on the back of 4 other recent prestigious awards: The National Fish & Chip Awards 2020 – Top 20 Fish & Chips Shop Of The Year Awards and the Top 3 Marketing Innovation Award, TripAdvisors Travellers’ Choice Award and FRY Magazines 10 Best Restaurants.
Paul Hay opened Fish ’n’ Fritz in 1997, 24 years ago and since opening has won countless awards and become a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike.
