Pret and Burger King Open Limited Sites, what of McDonalds?

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Burger King and Pret A Manger will open selected stores for takeaway – and does it means McDonald’s is reopening too?

Pret A Manger has revealed that some of their branches will reopen.

The announcement said: “We are incredibly grateful that 160 Team Members have volunteered to help reopen 10 shops in London, located close to hospitals.

“In doing so, this will help give frontline healthcare workers better access to freshly prepared food while also getting our supply chain up and running again to deliver food to the homeless.”

The shops are open from Thursday 16 April and will operate as takeaway and delivery services only.

The announcement also stated that a 50 per cent discount for NHS workers will be implemented until the end of the month.

The ten shops being opened are in and around Greater and Central London.

Burger King

Burger King has announced that it will be operating at four branches from Friday 17 April.

Two of these sites are in Bristol, one is in Swindon and another is in Coventry. These sites will operate as delivery only services and will be running a stripped down menu.

Katie Evans, marketing director at Burger King UK, said: “We hope that reopening these restaurants for delivery services goes some way to lifting our customers’ spirits in these difficult times.”

Evans also said that NHS staff would benefit from Burger King giving away 1,000 meals a week to those based nearby.

She said: “We want to demonstrate how appreciative everyone at Burger King UK is of their efforts in these unprecedented times.”

These are the specific branches that are opening:

  1. Coventry C6 – Central 6 Retail Park

  2. Swindon D/T – Queen’s Dr, SN3 1AR

  3. Bristol – Bath Road

  4. Bristol – Eastgate

When will McDonald’s reopen?

There hasn’t been any official word on when McDonald’s might be reopening its doors to the public.

In the announcement to say that they would be closing, Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s UK and Ireland, Paul Pomroy, said: “It has become clear that maintaining safe social distancing whilst operating busy takeaway and Drive Thru restaurants is increasingly difficult and there we have taken the decision to close every restaurant in the UK and Ireland by 7pm on Monday 23 March.”

But while their doors remain closed, McDonald’s has been sharing recipes for some of their most popular items on social media.

This is the recipe for their sausage and egg McMuffin, with a hash brown, according to McDonald’s.

Ingredients:

  1. 1 English muffin

  2. 75g of sausage meat

  3. 1 egg

  4. 1 slice of American cheese

  5. 1 potato

Method

To make the sausage and egg McMuffin, you’ll need to toast your English muffin until golden brown.

Season your sausage meat with some salt and pepper and shape into balls. Flatten them into patty shapes and cook under a preheated grill for six to seven minutes on either side.

For your egg, brush the inside of a metal ring with a little oil and place in a frying pan and pour in just enough water to cover the base – bring to a boil. Crack your egg into the ring and cover the pan for two to three minutes until cooked.

To make your hash brown, you’ll need to grate a potato into a bowl, mix in an egg and season with salt and pepper. Shape your potato into the shape of hash brown and heat up a pan with some oil in it.

Cook the grated potato until golden brown on both sides. Assemble your McMuffin and don’t forget your cheese.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ el_class=”sticky-container”][mnky_ads id=”3659″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
