HEINZ FOOD HEROES
***FINAL CALL FOR ENTRIES***
Heinz Food Heroes – the new awards programme from Heinz and hospitality networking association, Arena – is making a final call for entries ahead of the closing date on Friday 18 September.
The initiative recognises ‘foodies’ who have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on their community. Open to the whole food industry the awards spotlight both the individuals and companies with a supportive prize package of £5,000 per category for a training or mentorship programme of the winner’s choice.
Since the awards opened in July, entries have come in from all corners of the industry highlighting several great initiatives. From big batch cooking, meals on wheels and online Zumba classes through to food boxes for the elderly, pizza kits for children, free meals for the NHS, charities and homeless shelters.
Jojo de Noronha, Kraft Heinz Northern Europe President, says: “We launched the Heinz Food Heroes awards to recognise the dedication of individuals working hard and going above and beyond to make a difference in their communities. 2020 is an exceptionally difficult year and it’s humbling to hear about all the support that both individuals and companies have given, and continue to give, to help those around them.”
Lorraine Wood, Director of Arena adds: “Despite the challenging circumstances of 2020, there has been a tremendous effort from people to support those that need it most. This sense of community is fantastic to see and gives everyone a sense of positivity that can be carried into 2021.”
Austen Dack Chippy Chat Publishing Editor said “Our chip shops have been doing some brilliant work in the community at a very difficult time, hopefully this good work will be recognised by these awards, I advise you all to enter.”
The winners of the Heinz Food Heroes programme will be selected by an esteemed judging panel which includes Leo Kattou, head chef at Simpson’s restaurant and 2019 MasterChef: The Professionals finalist, Candice Brown winner of The Great British Bake Off and owner of The Green Man Pub, Lorraine Wood, Director of Arena – The Hospitality Network and Jojo de Noronha, Kraft Heinz Northern European President.
The programme is open to anyone who works in the food industry. To nominate someone, or yourself, visit: www.heinz.co.uk/heroes.
