National Seafood Week (6-13 October), organiser Seafish is urging all businesses and organisations involved in seafood to sign up to its eight-day celebratory campaign – now in its third year.
Aimed to champion the industry and encourage consumers to buy, cook and eat fish and shellfish, the free-to-join campaign allows businesses to promote their produce, events, special offers and activities on www.seafoodweek.co.uk ‘What’s On’ page.
Kicking off with ‘Fish Pun Day’ – a pun-off between seafood brands and retailers on Twitter using the hashtag #fishpunday – the week will also see retail and seafood business partners offer discounts and promotional deals to encourage consumers to try new species and buy more fish.
Seafish Corporate Relations Director Mel Groundsell said: “Seafood Week is a great chance for our industry to encourage members of the public to try something new or get back in to the habit of eating healthy and delicious food.
“The week benefits the whole seafood supply chain and we are confident that for the third year in a row it will be a major boost for the industry. With so much going on across the UK throughout the eight days, there’s a Seafood Week option for every budget and taste.”
Shops can register their interest in Seafood Week 2017 at http://www.fishisthedish.co.uk/seafoodweek/my-seafood-week.
Companies already signed up to support Seafood Week 2017 include: supermarket Morrisons, hotel network Hilton Worldwide and the seafood brand Saucy Fish Co.
