Eric Snaith, Executive Chef and owner of award-winning Eric’s Fish And Chips in Thornham, will open a second site in St Ives, Cambridgeshire on 1st June 2019.
Located in Abbey Retail Park on Harrison Way, Eric’s Fish And Chips St Ives is a 66-cover restaurant and takeaway, with a 24-cover outdoor terrace. The menu offers traditional British fish and chips with modern European influences, inspired by Chef Patron Eric Snaith’s three-AA Rosette restaurant, Titchwell Manor.
In keeping with the signature tiled walls and subtle maritime theme of the Thornham restaurant, the 1875 square foot site has been designed by Shaun Clarkson ID, featuring exposed brick, stripped back lighting and blue leather banquette seating to give the space a modern feel.
Open from noon until 9pm daily, the menu highlights the best of the Norfolk coast, using sustainably-sourced fish. Signature dishes will include classic cod and chips fried in Green King IPA batter and traditional beef dripping (with vegetarian and gluten-free alternatives available); a Japanese style fish burger, and gruyere and spinach arancini, all accompanied by homemade sauces, such as Eric’s black garlic mayo. The restaurant will also feature an ice cream station, serving gelatos and sorbets with signature toppings such as caramelised cornflakes, all made in collaboration with East Coast Gelato.
Drinks will range from Eric’s Fish And Chips’ own Session pale ale, made in collaboration with Brewboard brewers, and available to takeaway in growlers from mid-July, through to wines and champagnes from long-time Titchwell Manor supplier Hallgarten Druit alongside homemade soft drinks and batch cocktails.
Alongside serving a dedicated kids’ menu with at-table games provided with those dining in, the St Ives site will include a custom-designed bleacher childrens’ seating area.
Eric Snaith said: “We are extremely excited to open our newest restaurant in Cambridgeshire’s most iconic market town. The St Ives site will have its own look and feel, whilst continuing the tradition of serving the highest-quality sustainably sourced fish to locals and visitors alike.”
Eric’s Fish And Chips St Ives is the first of two new openings from husband and wife team Eric and Lydia Snaith this summer, with a third site scheduled to open in Holt, Norfolk on 20th June.
