[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Multi-award winning Plymouth chippy, Kingfisher, has been chosen to fly the flag for Norwegian seafood at the country’s annual celebratory Norway Day event on 17th May in London.

Owners Craig Maw & Nikki Mutton will make the 200 mile journey to Southwark Park in their special event catering van,Kingfisher on the Go. Invited by the Norwegian Seafood Council, the duo will cater for up to 5,000 guests, serving up delicious, sustainable Norwegian line caught haddock and chips at a special price of just £5.00.

As well as fantastic food, the Southwark Park festivities include live music, dancing, a parade and speeches. The annual event marks the Norwegian day of constitution and is celebrated in Norway and by Norwegian immigrant communities across the world.

Craig explains why they are honoured to be asked to take part, “We were lucky enough to visit Norway last year. The fjords and landscape were crystal clear and beautiful. It’s no wonder Norwegian seafood is some of the best in the world. More importantly, their cod and haddock is MSC certified so it’s sustainable and fully traceable, which is why we serve it at Kingfisher. We can’t wait to pitch up Kingfisher on the Go and add our own Devon-style twist to this fantastic celebration of all things Norwegian.”

Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr, UK Director, Norwegian Seafood Council, adds: “We are delighted that Kingfisher are joining us to celebrate the Norway Day celebrations in Southwark Park. The Brits’ love affair with fish & chips has helped make the UK the biggest market for cod and haddock in the world, with Norway playing a vital role in keeping cod and haddock a constant on chip shop menus. Londoners will be excited to sample the finest sustainable Norwegian haddock and chips from one of the UK’s best fish & chip shops, for the bargain price of only £5.00.”
