National wholesaler JJ Food Service has ramped up service with the launch of customer-focused drivers and a new fleet of 7.5tonne high-tech vehicles.
Group General Manager of JJ Food Service Terry Larkin said, “Our customers have told us that quality and service are absolutely key, so we are responding by investing in a first-class delivery experience. Gone are the days you could simply drop goods off from A to B. Our new Customer Service Drivers are knowledgeable and can offer advice and support.”
To support the move, a vibrant new uniform has been rolled out and the salary has been increased by up to 35% to reflect drivers’ new responsibilities.
Further investments have been made to purchase more than 20 new 7.5tonne multi-temp vehicles, equipped with state-of-the-art technology to promote public and driver safety.
“Our new CCTV camera systems enable drivers to manoeuvre more precisely and to be fully aware of their blind spot. This is particularly important with more cyclists appearing on the roads”, said Terry. “We are responding by making our vehicles cycle safe”, he added.
40 vehicles have been fitted so far, with plans to roll it out to the entire fleet.
The 7.5tonne vehicles are less than half the size of JJ’s larger 18-tonne alternative, supporting the move towards more local deliveries, including to households.
“Not only are our customers delighted with the new service, our drivers are also happy because we’ve given them the tools they need to be professional and safe at all times.”
