[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Once again hundreds will be lining the High Street in Ely to cheer on the teams as they sprint the half-a-mile course each laden with a 20kg bag of potatoes, all of which had been grown by farmers in the Fens surrounding the city.
Many teams will be entering again this year – The Atrium Gymnasium, P J Lee & Sons, Star Radio, Paradise Pool, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Fenn Direct and many more! All donations raised will go to charity.
The event is put on by Isle of Ely Produce to celebrate the region’s potato growers and the local harvest festival.
Director Oliver Boutwood said: “Once again Isle of Ely Produce are happy to play such an important part in the community and to continue to invest in these types of events. The event underlines our pledge to support the journey of the potato from the field to the frier”
RACE FACT: The winning duo from this year received £100 cash prize and a trophy. All competitors will get to keep their potatoes as part of their entry fee
Entries are already open for 2016 and also opportunities for sponsorship too. Send any enquiries to austen@isleofely.co.uk[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ el_class=”sticky-container “][mnky_ads id=”2782”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
