Big-Hearted Couple At Henley’s Make Fish and Chips For Veterans At Chavasse House in Colcheste

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Veterans at a recovery centre were treated to fish and chips thanks to a big-hearted couple.

David and Lisa Henley, of Henley’s Fish and Chips, paid a visit to Chavasse VC House in Colchester, a Help for Heroes recovery centre.

Keen to show support, the couple who has shops in Braintree and Wivenhoe donated the meals to the veterans in Berechurch Road.

David Henley, who has been in the business for 37 years since starting aged 14, said: “I think it’s important to be proud of what you do so put your name on it.

“I’m also very proud of our Armed Services and think it’s important to demonstrate gratitude by raising money or using particular skills.

“Ours just happens to be fish and chips.”

David’s parents served in the RAF and his grandfather served in the army.

He said: “Being in the Armed Services has to be one of the most difficult, dangerous and challenging roles you can imagine.

“Every serviceman or women I have met do so selflessly.

“They say ‘I’m just doing what I was trained for’ or ‘it’s my job’ which I find very humbling indeed.

“My uncle, who flew Lancasters, was shot down and never made it home. My great uncle was also mortally wounded behind enemy lines.

“This is why I support Help for Heroes, I feel we need to help those who are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country.”

The Recovery Centre in Colchester is one of four across the UK and everyone there thoroughly enjoyed their free fish and chips.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″ el_class=”sticky-container “][mnky_ads id=”113795”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
