NFFF Sponsor Fish and Chip Pie Class at the British Pie Awards 2024
Calling all pie fans! The NFFF has agreed to sponsor the fish and chip class at the British Pie Awards 2024, and Andrew Crook and Chippy Chat Publishing Editor Austen Dack will once again be amongst the 80+ judges on the day.
If you make your own pies in your fish and chip business or supply the industry with pies then why not enter! Previous winners include The Cod's Scallops. John Molnar, owner of the chip shop chain, said: "We were extremely proud that our pie has been nationally recognised as the best in the UK and sits equally along side our world class fish and chips."
Last year saw a record number of more than 900 pies entered in 23 classes for hot, cold, sweet and savoury, with some rather unusual flavours such as Marmite and cheese , a kebab pie and Baldy’s ‘Nearly As Good As Mama Joan's Lasagne Pie’.
They were judged by 86 pie connoisseurs from Selfridges, Tesco’s , Fortnum & Mason and Harrods, as well as as takeaway owners, chefs and pie experts.
Judging will take place on the 6th of March 2024 in the spiritual home of pies, Melton Mowbray.
Whilst there is high competition for some of the categories, the fish and chip section is a relative new comer and organiers would love to see more entrants. If you bake your own or our provided by a local pie comapny then you could win a coveted trophy and national recogniton too.
