The Fishermen’s Mission has announced details of the services to be held around the UK on 10th May 2026 to mark National Fishing Remembrance Day. All our welcome to join the services and they are all on the website.
Marc Evans, Chief Executive of the Fishermen’s Mission says, ‘There is a strong partnership between the charities and agencies that support fishing and, once again, we have all come together to conduct this important day of remembrance for the families and communities who have lost a loved one while working at sea.’

‘National Fishing Remembrance Day is an opportunity for our fishing communities to honour and remember their fishermen lost at sea. We will also take a moment to pay our respects by remembering the fishing families who have lost those who paid the ultimate price in bringing home the catch. The Fishermen’s Mission has been proudly serving active and former fishermen and their families for over 145 years, and it is our privilege to lead these services.’
‘We are pleased this year there will be spread of services around the UK coastline, taking place this year in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Jersey. By working closely together, we hope to reach out to those families to assure them that their loss has not been forgotten and to offer them an opportunity for reflection’.

‘For our fishing communities it is important that the dangers of fishing are recognised alongside the risks that are inherent in bringing in the catch. As an island nation, fishing is an important part of our history and culture, which we both celebrate and commemorate.’
